Professionally recorded, the Durham show was meant to be an official live album for the label I.R.S.
It was to be the band’s final album for the label. However, Stipe (so legend goes) objected to its release, which is perfectly believable when you hear him tell the crowd that he has a head cold and that they should expect “a less than perfect performance tonight.”
And, in fact, it never saw the light. Well, un til NOW !
